Addiction is a devastating disease that affects the entire family. That is why Greenbriar Treatment Center believes in helping loved ones as well as the addict/alcoholic. Once a week at all of our locations, we offer a family day for loved ones to come and meet with a therapist and participate in group discussion. The following is a list of behaviors/patterns to help the family member identify if a loved one has a problem. Please feel free to call Greenbriar with any questions or to make an appointment for someone you love.
How do you know if a loved one has a problem?
- Using too much or too often
- Personality changes when under the influence
- Missing work because of their use
- Missing family functions because of their use
- Hiding alcohol/drugs
- Stealing to have money to use
- Trouble with the law due to use
- Avoiding family and friends
- Lying about their use of alcohol/drugs
- Breaking promises to quit using
