The Lighthouse for Men is a private, safe and secure temporary residence for men with specific needs.
For more information concerning the Lighthouse for Men please feel free to contact us directly.
Individual needs are addressed on a regular basis and counseling sessions will focus on the promotion of self sufficiency and independent living.
Therapy groups are conducted on a regular scheduled basis. The purpose of group therapy is to carry the message of recovery through such issues as self esteem, relapse triggers and goal setting. Group members are encouraged to openly participate in a safe forum under the guidance of our professional therapy staff.
Peer groups provide residents the opportunity to offer each other support and encouragement throughout the treatment process. Group members explore common experiences and successes with each other as they learn how their behaviors impact those around them in a community living environment.
The development of effective recovery life skills is a primary focus of treatment at the Lighthouse for Men. Throughout their stay, residents will learn to become proficient in life skills such as managing medications, taking responsibility for medical and psychiatric appointments, financial responsibility, household management and healthy recreational activities. Attendance at 12 Step recovery groups, as well as understanding the importance of an ongoing committment to their recovery is a daily component of life skill training.
Daily community meetings are held to focus on the residents’ day to day responsibilities as a member of the Lighthouse for Men community. Assignment of house tasks, review of house and program rules and overall community concerns are among the issues addressed.
Educational groups are held several times weekly and address topics ranging from basic recovery concerns to overall health and nutrition.
Upon admission, each resident is assigned to a therapist skilled in the treatment of addiction and dual disorders. Treatment planning from admission to discharge is a combined effort between the resident and his therapist. The House Manager is available on a daily basis to assist with the development of life skills, such as shopping and meal preparation, personal well-being and the overall management of the house. Residents will have the benefit of a full time psychiatric nurse Monday through Friday for medication consultation and education. Greenbriar Treatment Center's Director of Psychiatric Services will provide treatment and consultation several hours each week and Medical Doctors will be on site to address any medical concerns.Treatment Technicians will round out our 24 hour staff and will bring with them years of recovery experiences to share with the residents, as well as being available to assist them with assignments, offer support and serve as a positive role model for recovery.
