Questions & Answers

Q: What motivated you to enter the drug and alcohol treatment field?

A: Seven years ago I was a client at Greenbriar Treatment Center. I entered treatment at my worst – broken with no hope for life. Throughout the treatment process, I was given the tools to sustain long-term recovery and begin a new life. After completing treatment, I knew I wanted to come back and offer others the same help and support I received at the beginning of my journey.

Q: What is the best part about the work you do?

A: The best part of the work I do is watching the transformation that our clients go through.  Working on the detox unit, I first encounter people when they are at the end of their road and don’t necessarily believe recovery is possible.  As I continue to work with them, I have the opportunity to see that “light bulb” go off and watch as they embrace a new life and realize recovery is possible.  Seeing the successes of the clients I work with is the most rewarding part of my job.

Q: What advice would you give someone who is struggling with a substance use disorder?

A: You are not alone! Ask for help – it will completely change your life.  Also, change is possible for anyone at any time. It may not be the easiest thing you’ll ever do, but it will be the best thing you ever do.
